Dublin City Council are partnering with Alone Ireland to provide support to older people during the pandemic.
The Gardaí, Dublin City Age Friendly Alliance and Pobal will also get involved.
They're aiming to make sure that people get the assistance they need during the crisis, from shopping to prescriptions and any other help that's needed.
Our colleagues in Tallaght were helping @LilBlueHeroes Daisy collecting her prescription. Sadly she was upset, her pet rabbit had escaped. A big shout out to @MutzNutzIE Petcare Tallaght who donated a rabbit food and straw.#PhysicalDistancing #SocialDistancing #WashYourHands pic.twitter.com/uhsq626zE0

Lord Mayor of Dublin, Tom Brabazon says we need to protect these people;
“While we find ourselves in an unprecedented situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, it is vital that we look after the members of society who are most at risk.
"The reality for a lot of elderly people in this situation is that they are too scared to go outside in case they come into contact with a carrier of the disease."
"By working together, we can ensure that when these older people call the support line they are given the advice and help that they need by a trained volunteer.”
If you need support, or would like to make a referral, call the support line on: 0818 222 024
