Almost €105 million is owed to local authorities across the state in unpaid rent.
Figures compiled by the Irish Times show 285 social housing tenants are in arrears of more than €20,000 each.
Dublin city council, the biggest local authority in the country, is owed the largest amount at €38,484,000. 144 of its tenants are in the red for more than €20,000 each.
Between January and July DCC issued 101 tenancy warnings and there were five orders of possession.
Meanwhile Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council is owed €5,811,285, social housing tenants of Fingal County Council are in arrears of €8,600,000, while South Dublin County Council is owed €11,208,117.
