Dublin City Council has been asked to reallocate road space for walking and cycling during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Ten Green party councillors have written to the head of the local authority asking it to replicate measures taken in other countries.
Traffic levels have fallen significantly since the movement restrictions were introduced, limiting the public to essential journeys.

They say cones could be used to widen footpaths, 'quiet-ways' could be created in housing estates, while traffic lanes could be re-purposed as cycle tracks.
The Green party says the measures could have a number of benefits including creating more space for social distancing and making cycling and walking safer.
