A Dublin care home for the elderly has had eleven Covid-19 related deaths within the last two weeks.
St Mary’s Hospital in the Phoenix Park is run by the HSE and has 198 residential places in total.
The HSE has confirmed that since 2nd April 2020 there have been 11 Covid-19 related deaths of residents.
10 of them are confirmed Covid-19 positive, while one is a suspected case with test results awaited.
"We offer our deepest sympathies to their family and friends and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time" according to a statement from the health service.
It went on to say; "Every effort continues to be implemented to maintain the professional standard of nursing and health care assistant staffing in St Mary’s Hospital during this time."
"The safety and wellbeing of our residents and staff is our priority."
Nursing homes meeting
It comes as Nursing Homes Ireland is to meet with the Health Minister this afternoon.
It follows criticism that the speed at which Covid-19 has spread in nursing homes wasn't anticipated.
The majority of 425 clusters nationwide are in those settings.
