Three of the four poorest quality bathing sites in Ireland are in Dublin.
A new report by the European Environmental Agency has found that Ireland continues to have one of the worst records in Europe for bathing water quality.
Merrion Strand, Sandymount Strand and Portrane Beach in Dublin and Clifden Beach in Galway are the four worst spots.
Grace Bolton of the European Commission office in Dublin says we lag behind the EU average when it comes to bathing water quality.
"This report revealed that 73% of bathing water sites in Ireland were designated as excellent quality. This is well below the EU average of 85%. The top 5 performing counties all scored over 95%."
