Dublin Airport is set to have it's busiest weekend since March 2020, when the Covid-19 pandemic began.
With European travel restrictions eased earlier this month, this is the first Bank Holiday weekend where people can travel for non essential reasons.
Passengers can travel within Europe with a Digital Covid Certificate. This will prove they are fully vaccinated, have recovered from Covid in the last six months, or have received a negative Covid test.
137,000 passengers will travel through the airport over this weekend but this is down 70% on 2019.
A glance at arrivals and departures at Dublin Airport makes it seem the airport is back to normal, but Siobhan O'Donnell of the DAA says it will be another couple of years before traffic volumes return fully:
"It's difficult to say, but ACI Europe which is the voice of 500 airports across 53 countries in Europe is predicting that a recovery will come back around 2024, 2025."
"But we'll be working really hard to get our route network back up to where it was pre-Covid-19."
