Donald Trump has touched down in Ireland.

He shared one of his signature, uncomfortable, handshakes with Leo Varadkar after stepping off his plane.

The U.S. President will have a brief meeting with the Taoiseach in County Clare.

They are expected to discuss Brexit, the north, trade and visas.

Climate change may also come up, as a peaceful protest takes place nearby.

President Trump will then visit his own golf resort in Doonbeg.

A number of protests against his trip have been organised, including in Dublin.

Earlier, Donald Trump and his family attended D Day commemorations in England.

His wife, Melania wore a hat from Irish designer Philip Treacy.

The ivory overlayed dome in sinamay drew comparisons to the Brodie helmet worn by soldiers in the trenches during the war.
