Wedding industry representatives welcome news the Digital Covid Certificate could be used to increase the number of guests at receptions.
The government will meet on Tuesday to consider extending the system for travel and hospitality to allow between 50 and 100 at nuptials next month.
It had been expected 100 guests would be allowed, however last week the Tanaiste said couples should plan for a maximum of 50.
President of the Wedding International Professionals Association, Tara Fay urges government to consider PCR testing as a way of allowing larger attendances at weddings next month:
"If we could look at the possibility of people applying for a negative PCR test in advance of weddings, I know it is an expensive option but for some people that is what they would like to do.
"I think just ignoring it and saying "well you can only have 50 guests sorry about that. We told you you could have a hundred but now we're changing our mind.
"The reality is when a couple heard you could have a hundred guests for August, albeit subject to public health advice, they didn't hear the caveat."
On Tuesday 200 brides-to-be in wedding dresses will march on Government Buildings in a bid to see wedding capacities increased.
This will take place on the same day Cabinet ministers will meet to discuss expanding the use of the Digital Covid Cert to wedding parties.
Representatives from the industry will also be in attendance, and present draft guidelines on how 100 guests can be achieved in August.
