A new Crisis Text Line service is looking for 300 volunteers.

The 24/7 messaging service will launch in Ireland this summer, and offer support to those who need it.

Crisis Text Line will help those who are feeling suicidal or experiencing a mental health issue.

The network, which is already in the UK and US, is now looking for volunteers in Ireland.

Volunteers will answer texts from people in crisis, using active listening, collaborative problem solving, and safety planning.

They can work remotely anywhere with a computer and secure internet connection.

Crisis Text Line asks volunteers to commit to giving 4 hours of their time each week.

To apply, you can fill out this application form.

New volunteers will have to be Garda vetted and complete a 30-hour online training course.

You can find out more at this website.
