The Tánaiste says couples getting married in August should plan on the basis of a 50 person limit at their wedding.
Numbers allowed at the ceremonies are currently restricted to 50 people.
But it had been hoped this would be expanded to 100 from next month.
However, Leo Varadkar says couples shouldn't rely on this.
"As has always been the case we'll often set a target date for the further easing of restrictions. But we always say to people to operate on the basis that they won't change. Don't assume that they will change."
"So I would say to anyone who is planning a wedding in August, operate on the basis that it will be 50. That might change, it might change to 100. But I wouldn't plan on that basis.
