Dublin city councillors have voted to take action on congestion in Phibsborough following the death of a pedestrian last month.
The woman was killed in a collision involving a lorry and a car in the northside neighbourhood on August 29th.
The council's traffic management department has been asked to introduce measures to improve the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and other road users.
They have also been asked to review the traffic light sequencing in the area.
Fine Gael councillor Colm O'Rourke brought the emergency motion to the Central Council Central Area Committee meeting yesterday;
"There’s congestion in all the areas that I represent but Phibsborough is at a crisis point in terms of excess vehicles passing through" he said.
"Phibsborough is a wonderful Northside gem but at times it is unpleasant due to the amount of vehicles squeezed in to a village that was never designed for this."
