Gardaí in Coolock are investigating after a horse was seized with serious burn injuries.
Members of the DSPCA assisted in the rescue, where they found scorched skin on the animal's face and head.
The young stallion has been taken to the DSPCA centre in Rathfarnham, where he is in a lot of pain.
Gillian Bird from the charity says it's likely the injuries were caused deliberately.
"When they arrived they found the animal to be in quite a bad condition, he's very underweight.
"Also it has injuries consistent with being set alight."
"So the horse has some quite serious burns on it's face, the mane, the ears are all burnt away."
"He's in quite a bit of pain, the poor animal."
Second Time Gardaí Have Seized A Horse This Week
However it's the second time Gardaí in Dublin have seized a horse in just one week.
Two horses were seized last weekend, after Officers found them wandering around Dorset Street.
Meanwhile Gillian says the DSPCA is always available to offer assistance with horses or other animals:
"The DSPCA are always here to help anyone who's having trouble with their animals."
"We run snip and chip clinics where we can do a subsidised castration clinic."
"So that's for people who can't afford to have their horses castrated."
"We can also help people with advice and information, subsidised veterinary treatment.
"Also if they feel that they can no longer keep the animal, or have nowhere suitable to keep it, please do contact the DSPCA."
"We will do our best to work with you and try to re-home that animal."
Two horses seized by Gardaí from the North Central Public Order Unit.
It's understood both were left unattended on the Royal Canal at Drumcondra on Friday last & later found roaming in traffic on Dorset Street by Gardaí. For more see -https://t.co/6j2dzZuG4G pic.twitter.com/PFQ6B8YTUw— Garda Info (@gardainfo) July 19, 2020
