Former professional kickboxer and media personality Andrew Tate (36) and his brother Tristan (34) have been arrested in Romania on suspicion of human trafficking.
The controversial podcaster is being detained for 24 hours after his house in Bucharest was raided by authorities.
He has built a following by talking about his views on gender roles, garnering copious amounts of backlash resulting in him being banned from several social media platforms.
Mr Tate is being held in relation to allegations of human trafficking, rape, and forming an organized crime unit related to his webcam studio.
The authorities are said to have used a video by the creator in which he criticised environmental activist Greta Thunberg to track his whereabouts.
In the video, he has a pizza box from a local restaurant in front of him, which helped identify his location.
Ms Thunberg tweeted in response to the news: "This is what happens when you don't recycle your pizza boxes."

Three of Mr Tate's Twitter accounts have been suspended.
In August of this year, following an online campaign to deplatform him, Mr Tate was permanently banned from Facebook and Instagram.
Apart from his misogynistic views on women, Mr Tate garnered attention through other controversial behavior.
In 2016, while appearing on Big Brother, a video appeared to show him hitting a woman with a belt and he was subsequently removed from the reality show.
