College Green in Dublin will be closed to vehicular traffic today.
The busy traffic area is being pedestrianised until seven o' clock this evening in the second of a three day trial by Dublin City Council.
The first trial was held last Sunday and the council was criticised over security barriers that blocked sections of Dame Street to pedestrians, despite being closed to traffic.
Green Party Councillor Caroline Conroy hopes things will run more smoothly today.
"We're hoping it would run like it would be if it was just the norm that people would walk and cycle through. People can bring along their picnics, sit on the side, and the main win would be for people who can who can walk around there freely with their children... also there'd be no car fumes or bus fumes."
