Cocaine worth €2.8 million has been seized at Dublin Port.
One man has been arrested after 40 kilos of drugs were found hidden in the floor cavity of a trailer.
Revenue says it had come from Cherbourg in France.
A man in his 50s has been arrested and is being questioned at a Garda Station in Dublin.
Investigation
A garda spokesperson says: "Gardaí from the DMR North Central Divisional Drugs Unit have arrested a man in his 50s following the seizure of cocaine with an estimated value of €2.8 million (pending analysis) by Revenue officers at Dublin Port on Sunday, 22nd September 2024.
"Revenue officers discovered 40 kilograms of cocaine concealed in the floor cavity of a trailer during a search of a vehicle that had disembarked from a ferry arriving from Cherbourg, France.
"The man was arrested at the scene and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at a Garda station in the Dublin Region. He can be held for up to seven days.
"The drugs seized will be forwarded to FSI for analysis.
