Two men have been arrested after cocaine and cannabis worth over €1.7 million was seized in Dublin.
Gardaí intercepted two vehicles in Swords just before 8 o'clock last night, and then carried out follow up searches at two houses.
Gardaí searched two houses in Swords and Ballybrack and found 6 kilos of cocaine, 65 kilos of cannabis, and €100,000 in cash, as well as a cocaine press, mixing agent, and three high value vehicles.
The total value of the drugs seized exceeds €1.7 million euro.
The men in their 40s and 50s are being questioned at a garda station in the Dublin region where they can be held for up to a week.
The operation by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau is part of ongoing intelligence-led investigations targeting serious and organised crime in the Dublin Region.
A garda spokesperson says: "On Tuesday, April 30th, 2024, just before 8:00 pm, officers from the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) conducted an intervention on two vehicles in the Swords area of Dublin as part of ongoing intelligence-led investigations targeting serious and organised crime in the Dublin Region.
"Subsequently, searches were also conducted at two residential properties in the Swords and Ballybrack areas of County Dublin.
"During this operation, Gardaí seized 6 kilograms of cocaine, 65 kilograms of cannabis, €100,000 in cash, a cocaine press, mixing agent, and three high-value vehicles. The total value of the controlled drugs seized exceeds €1.7 million (pending analysis).
"Two males aged in their 40s and 50s were arrested in relation to drug trafficking and are currently detained at a Garda Station in the Dublin Region under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
"Investigations are ongoing."
