A Clondalkin based woman has been arrested over suspected money laundering, involving sums of up to €10 million euro.
The 40 year-old is believed to be a key figure in the international crime organisation 'Black Axe'.
The gang is considered one of the world's largest - and most far-reaching - crime syndicates.
The Irish Independent reports the arrested woman directed a male bank employee to launder money for the crime network.
She is also suspected of involvement in organised prostitution in the city.
The woman was arrested on Monday, with her period of detention extended on Tuesday.
She can be held for u to 7 days.
