Up to 90 children with autism in Blanchardstown haven't been able to secure specialised school places for next September.
Campaigners in the westside suburb say kids are being turned away from mainstream schools that can't manage their complex needs.
According to the Irish Times, the National Council for Special Education says there are "particular pressures" in the Dublin 15 area.
Síle Parsons, spokesperson from the Autism School Dublin 15 campaign, says they need a dedicated school.
"There are children in Dublin 15 travelling up to 60 kilometres a day to access an ASD-specific school [autism spectrum disorder] and those schools have upwards of 150 to 180 children on their waiting lists," she said.
"They're only accepting maximum six every year into their school as well -- but most of the time it's between three and four students."
