Dublin Airport has warned that 'significant queues' will result in some people not making their flights today.
It follows weeks of delays at security because of staffing issues despite the facility saying it has hired more employees.
50,000 people are booked on flights today and photos of queues on the street outside are going viral online.

Due to significant queues inside the terminal for check-in, bag drop & security, passengers queueing outside the terminal may not make their flight & may need to contact their airline to rebook. We sincerely apologise for the obvious frustration and inconvenience this may cause.

Labour's transport spokesperson Duncan Smith says the situation is out of control:
"Well, we didn't think it could get any worse than it has been over the last couple of weeks. But today seems to have broken new ground with many many people missing flights and absolute chaos throughout the terminal. I spoke directly with the CEO of the DAA Dalton Phillips this week to express how unhappy I was with how things were at the airport. He assured me on that phone call that there is staff coming through, and that wait times will be brought down to the standard that we're used to by June".
He adds:
"People are going on holidays that they haven't been able to go on in the last few years. People are going on business trips, people are going to visit relatives and some of them now are missing their flights and have to rebook. Or the best case they're just having a torrid time going through our national airport, and that is absolutely unsustainable".
