Crystal Palace have signed Cenk Tosun on loan from Everton until the end of the season.
The Turkish international has scored just one goal in eight appearances for the Merseyside club in this campaign.
He cost the Premier League club 27 million pounds when they signed him from Besiktas in January 2018.
Tosun has been in better form at international level and was Turkey's top scorer in their successful qualification for Euro 2020.
"This is about adding competition," said Palace manager Roy Hodgson.
"None of the players we sign will be there to pad out the squad, if I need to do that it will be with some of the U23 players. Anyone we bring in I would want to be a serious contender for a first team place.
We are bringing him here to get the best out of his game, Everton obviously feel he has more chance of getting into our team, and they, like ourselves, will hope he does well here to increase his value. We will have to see what that means".
"We're delighted to have secured Cenk's services for the remainder of this season," said Palace chairman Steve Parish of their new signing.
"We've enjoyed a great first half of the campaign and Cenk's arrival will bolster our squad as we push for a top-half Premier League finish.
"Cenk has a proven record as a goalscorer and we've admired him for some time, so I'm very pleased to welcome him to Crystal Palace."
