Celtic's Odsonne Edouard has been named the Scottish Football Writers' Player of the Year.

The French striker found the net 28 times for the Hoops this season with 22 of those goals in the league as Neil Lennon's side completed a Premiership and League Cup double.

Rangers' Alfredo Morelos Dundee United's Lawrence Shankland and Edouard's teammate Callum McGregor had also been shortlised, while it's the seventh successive season that a Celtic player has won the award.

Meanwhile Celtic captain Scott Brown says they're ready for the weight of expectation ahead of going in search of a 10th league title in-a-row in August.

"We need a good start, getting a good start is always huge for us," the Hoops captain told Sky Sports News.

"We're disappointed we couldn't finish the season but the way we were flying - that's the standard we want to get back to.

"Whether it's a friendly match, cup match, league or Champions League - we need to go in with the same attitude, same work rate and same fitness levels as we did at the end of last season.

"So we need to make sure we work hard in the next three or four weeks, work so whenever the league says it safe to start then we're ready to go and firing on all cylinders."
