Now THIS is great casting!
The Devil Wears Prada hits the West End later this year and Vanessa Williams has been cast as Miranda Priestly.
Not only that, but the one and only Elton John will be creating the music for the show! Talk about a formula for perfection.
Vanessa will be taking on the iconic role of Miranda Priestly, the terrifyingly brilliant editor-in-chief of Runway magazine, a character made iconic by Meryl Streep in the 2006 movie (and who is loosely based on real life Vogue editor Anna Wintour).

The Devil Wears Prada was first a best selling novel released back in 2003, and gained worldwide recognition when it was turned into a movie in 2006 starring Anne Hathaway as Miranda’s hapless assistant.
Now, 18 years later, it’s being adapted for the stage and is set to open in London's Dominion Theatre in October of this year.
Casting Vanessa Williams seems like a genius move as many would know the actress for a playing a similar character on Ugly Betty for years.
Not only that, but Vanessa is no stranger to the stage! She won a Tony for her performance in Stephen Sondheim’s musical Into The Woods, and also starred in The Trip To Bountiful on Broadway and City Of Angels on the West End.
Vanessa Williams said that “bringing Miranda Priestly to life in the West End is an absolute dream come true” before adding “Gird your loins folks!”, a reference to one of the film's iconic quotes.
We’re already planning a trip across the pond!
