The home renovations aren’t going well for Saoirse.
Saoirse Ronan was hoping to knock the house she bought for herself in West Cork, but her plans have been rejected by the council.
The Oscar nominated actor owns a holiday cottage near Ballydehob, which she bought for €650,000 back in 2020.

She planned to demolish the cottage to make a single storey home that was 3 times larger.
The Outrun star first submitted her plans back in August of this year, for a low-slung, 332 square metre three-bed bungalow with rooms — including a library and an office — ranged around a central, enclosed courtyard.
After pre-planning discussions, architects working with the actress sought permission to demolish the 125 square metre home and build fresh on a slightly high portion of ground.
Council planners rejected Saoirse’s application to demolish the building on the grounds that “a reasoned justification for the demolition of the existing modest and well-integrated dwelling has not been submitted”.
“Furthermore, the Planning Authority considers that the proposed new dwelling, to be sited at a higher level within the site than that of the dwelling to be replaced, would by reason of the siting, scale, design and mass not fit appropriately into the rural/coastal/high-value landscape, and the proposed new dwelling would seriously detract from the visual amenities of the area.”
Looks like Saoirse and her architects need to do some re-planning!
