Niall Horan says there's "a little bit of a story" behind Liam Payne's relationship with Cheryl. Speaking to Hello! magazine, the One Direction star said: "She's a great girl, really fun. He's a top man and one of my best friends.
"She seems happy, he's happy, so I'm happy for them."
Niall then added: "There's a little bit of a story behind it but I won't be telling you that."
Cheryl split from her French husband Jean Bernard Fernandez-Versini earlier this year.
Meanwhile, we could be hearing solo music from Niall soon. Last week, the Mullingar native told Digital Spy that he has been spending time in the recording studio, but said he isn't working on anything serious.
"Yeah, I've just been in the studio, nothing sneaky, nothing in particular going on," he shared.
"Writing is always something I've enjoyed, as you know, and I've written with a few of the lads I've made relationships with down the years so I've been able to call up someone, 'Do you wanna write? Yeah, cool, let's go in the studio and write'.
