The Royals decided to share their news with the world on Valentine's Day, posting a black and white photo taken by their friend Misan Harriman.
A spokesperson for the couple said, "we can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother."
They went on to say that the pair are "overjoyed".
In November, Meghan detailed a recent miscarriage in an article written for the New York Times.
She expressed "an almost unbearable grief" at the loss of her second pregnancy.
The couple have not confirmed the due date for their new baby, who will be eighth in line to the throne.
