Madonna is causing a bit of a stir as it’s emerged she’s planning on hiring the Pompeii ruins for a lavish birthday party.
The pop icon is turning 66 this month and it’s being reported that she’s set her sights on the 2,200 year old amphitheatre in Italy as the venue.
Although nothing has been confirmed yet, the news has not gone down well with many Italians, who have criticised how “cheaply” she is renting the historic landmark for.

Speaking to The Times, the general secretary of the Italia Nostra heritage association f Michele Campisi said: “€30,000 is absurd. It's like giving Pompeii away.”
He also questioned why Madonna needed to go to Pompeii for her birthday and couldn't use a “beautiful beach instead”.
The party is set to be star-studded, with a rumoured guestlist of up to 500 A-Listers, including the likes of Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom.
Well now you know if you want to rent out the ancient city of Pompeii for your next birthday bash, you just need to cough up a mere €30,000!
