Kate Winslet has spoken about her experiences being bullied.
The Oscar winner appeared on 'Running Wild With Bear Grylls', and opened up about the effects body shaming and bullying had on her as a teenager:
"When I grew up, I never heard positive reinforcement about body image from any female in my life. I only heard negatives,"
"That’s very damaging, because then you’re programmed as a young woman to immediately scrutinize yourself and how you look", she added.
As a mother, Kate doesn't want her daughter to ever go through the same experiences:
"I stand in front of the mirror and say to Mia, ‘We are so lucky we have a shape. We’re so lucky we’re curvy. We’re so lucky we’ve got good bums."
The actress ran into her bully years later, after she had grown out of her awkward teenage phase. She stood up to her bully:
"I want to thank you for being such a b—h because it made me a lot stronger."
Many people suffer from bullying at one time or another in their life.
Kate Winslet's revelations may help some of her fans going through similar experiences.
