Johnny Depp has made fun of a video apology he made with his wife Amber Heard after his dogs were illegally taken into Australia.
During the press conference for his new film Alice Through The Looking Glass, he said:
'I would really like to apologise for not smuggling my dogs into England, because it would have been a bad thing to do.' Tim Burton then joked 'I forgot to tell you they're dead. I just sat on them upstairs.'
Last month, Heard avoided a conviction in Australia after she admitted failing to declare her dogs on her immigration papers.
Prosecutors in Queensland also dropped two more serious charges of illegally importing the two terriers - which could have resulted in up to 10 years in prison.
The couple recorded a video apology which was played in court, warning others against trying to break the strict quarantine rules:
Alice Through The Looking Glass, which also stars Alan Rickman, Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter, hits cinemas on May 27th.
