Paul's not going to let anyone forget where he comes from!
Paul Mescal had a hilariously straight-up answer when he was asked about what it was like meeting King Charles.
During the LA premiere of Gladiator II, a journalist for Variety asked the actor: “What was it like meeting the King? Have you met him before… how wild was that?”
Paul very diplomatically replied: “Never met the King. How wild is it? It’s definitely not something that I thought was in the bingo cards. I’m Irish so it’s not on the list of priorities.”
Paul Mescal on meeting King Charles:
“I’m Irish, so it’s not on the list of priorities. But it’s an amazing thing for Ridley [Scott] because I know how important that is for him.”

But he acknowledged what a moment it was the movie’s director, who’s from the UK:
“But it’s an amazing thing for Ridley [Scott], as I know how important that is for him, so to see his film celebrated in that context was pretty special.”
When asked what he said to King Charles, he responded: “You just kind of nod along. I found it hard to hear exactly what was [being said]… you’re just kind of nodding along and smiling.”
You’re going to have to do a lot more than wheel out the Royal Family to impress our Paul!
