What a moment for him!
Paul Mescal had the homecoming of the year as he stepped out in Dublin last night for the Irish premiere of Gladiator II.
The Kildare actor looked in genuine disbelief as he took in the roaring crowds all cheering him on in his big moment - starring in the biggest blockbuster of the year.
Showbiz Shannon was on the red carpet and asked the man himself how it felt to get a reception like this when he’s “just a lad from Ireland.”
“Still a lad from Ireland,” the actor responded shyly.
“This is mad. There’s very little else to say other than like- I just never expected anything like this.”
“So I’m just kind of floating at the moment,” he added.

The actor also acknowledged that he had heard about the look-alike competition that had taken place in Smithfield earlier that day, where a man from Clare took home the winning prize of €20.
