During his performance John stopped to speak to the crowd saying “I’ve had the most wonderful career, beyond belief, Fifty years of pure joy playing music. How lucky am I? But I wouldn’t be sitting here and talking to you if it wasn’t for you,”.
Elton said his farewells and finished it all up with a performance of “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”, which was written with his writing partner Bernie Taupin. Taupin wrote the song as an escape from the fame, hustle and bustle of the music industry, which was a perfect goodbye for John.
The tour which amounted to 300 shows across the globe has surpassed Ed Sheeran's ‘Divide’ tour in its grossings with it exceeding $800 million.
