This has been a long time coming!

Music superstars Elton John and Madonna have “buried the hatchet” following a two decade-long feud.

In 2002, Elton reportedly criticised Madonna’s 'Die Another Day' 007 theme song as “the worst Bond tune ever”. Then in 2004 at the Q Awards in 2004, he said, “Madonna, best live act? F*ck off”, and went on to accuse her of lip-syncing.

Now, the 'Hung Up' singer has opened up about their relationship after she watched Elton's Saturday Night Live performance at the weekend.

She took to Instagram to share a photograph of the two of them hugging, writing an emotional post.

Madonna explained that when she heard Elton John was the musical guest on SNL, she decided to go and confront him.

“When I met him, the first thing out of his mouth was, ‘Forgive Me’ and the wall between us fell down. Forgiveness is a powerful tool. Within minutes. We were hugging.”

Elton John then told Madonna he had written a song for her and wanted to collaborate.

He also responded to her post, saying: “Thank you for coming to see me at SNL, and thank you for forgiving me and my big mouth. I’m not proud of what I said, particularly when I think about all the ground-breaking work you have done as an artist – paving the way for an entire generation of female artists to succeed and be true to themselves.”
