Dynamo, the magician, is coming to Dublin's 3Arena in March and we caught up with him before one of his shows in Manchester.
Dynamo, real name Steven Frayne, is well known for his television show, 'Magician Impossible' and also from guest appearances on many other shows. He's worked his magic on some of the biggest names in Hollywood, like Will Smith, Samuel L Jackson and also Pharrell.
Now, for the first time ever, he's taking his show 'Seeing is Believing' on tour, which includes 5 nights at the 3Arena from March 16th to 20th. He revealed to us that he really wants Conor McGregor to go to his show saying, "I am a fan of his, he is really cool. I would love him to come and see my show. He is a proper character as well."
Conor isn't the only Irishman Dynamo likes. He also admitted that he's a fan of Keith Barry adding, "he is a great guy. The hypnotism he does is crazy, I don't understand it." He also said that Keith has already seen the show and has given him some advice. The pair actually met on Twitter and have becomes friends through their mutual love of magic.
He spoke about growing up in Bradford in the UK and told us about how his love for magic came from his Great-Grandfather, Ken. He suffers from Crohn's disease which made him small in stature. Growing up, he used to get bullied for this and two boys in particular would tease him. Everyday they used to put him in a wheelie bin and push him down a hill. Dynamo said that Ken saw this one day and decided to teach him some tricks to help scare them off.
He taught him a technique to make himself so heavy that they wouldn't be able to pick him up. He said, "that by doing this they spread rumours around the school that I had these super demon powers because they didn't want to be seen to be set back by little me."
I suggested that we bring Conor up on stage to try that trick out on him and he welcomed the challenge saying that he's performed it already on boxer David Haye and he couldn't budge him.
He was genuinely one of the nicest guys to chat to, so down to earth and relaxed. We went along to the show afterwards and saw him perform his 'Seeing is Believing' show to a packed out Manchester Apollo. It was absolutely amazing and mind blowing. I would recommend for everyone to go to his show when it comes to the 3Arena in March.
