As Kanye tweeted this morning; the Met Ball is the Grammys of style. Or The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit Gala, to give it its full title. OR the event you associate with Beyonce / Solange / Jay Z's infamous lift fight in 2014. More on that later.

It's the biggest night in the fashion calendar, meaning you can expect about half the celebs to try and outdo each other with proper wacky outfits. This year's theme was 'fashion in the age of technology'.

Many of the stars chose to interpret that as a trouty / mirrored disco-ball-type dress (like Cindy Crawford and Kim K) while others appeared to ignore the memo completely (a la Rosie Huntington Whiteley and Blake Lively.) Then there was just the plain daft *ahem* Madonna.

Kim and Kanye were named 'Best Dressed' by Vogue, and Yeezy tweeted to thank everyone who worked on their outfits.

Queen Bey walked the red carpet solo this year. Obviously the singer can't look sideways without setting tongues wagging, but this really stoked the rumour mill. It's only a week since Beyonce released her visual album Lemonade, which charts the emotional journey of a woman who has been cheated on. It's hard to imagine even more lens being pointed at Bey and Z than in 2015 - which was one year on from lift-gate. It's reported Jay Z stayed at home so the evening could be all about Mrs Carter. Nothing to do with the media's quest to figure out who Becky With Good Hair is. Nope, nothing at all.
