Blind Date is getting a revival!
The ITV show was the making of Cilla Black and ran from 1985 to 2003.
Now Dan Baldwin - a successful television producer who’s married to Holly Willoughby - is looking to bring back Blind Date for the next generation.
Following the success of the Gladiators revival, which Dan had also been involved in, they’re now looking to reboot the Blind Date and have Claudia Winkleman as the host this time around.
Speaking on BBC Radio 4 yesterday, Dan said: "You always look at old shows that are no longer on television. You are always coming up with new ways of bringing back a show.”
“There is nothing wrong with that because those shows were great for a reason. As well as coming up with new ideas, we’ve always got one eye on what could come back and what could be a hit like Gladiators is. Another one that you’d like to see back, Blind Date, are we ready for that? What a Saturday night that was. I’m thinking Blind Date with Claudia Winkleman on BBC1, how about it?"
Now this isn’t the first time they’ve tried to reboot Blind Date. Channel 5 tried to bring it back in 2017 but even with the late great Paul O’Grady at the helm, it didn’t quite get off the ground.
