There are calls for Kellie Harrington to be awarded the freedom of the city, following her Olympic Gold medal win.
Harrington's family, friends and neighbours celebrated her win throughout Sunday, as she became Ireland's second female boxer to win gold.
The Portland Row native defeated Brazilian Beatriz Ferreira in a unanimous decision to win Ireland's second gold of the Tokyo Games.
Now, there are calls for her to become the first boxer to be awarded the cities highest honour.
"Kellie has put the North Inner City, Dublin and Ireland on the world stage in the most positive way possible," says local councillor Nial Ring,
"The Freedom of her native city would be a fitting recognition of her achievements."
Meanwhile, Dublin City Council says it can't facilitate a formal civic reception due to COVID-19.
They are currently reviewing all contingencies to ensure she can celebrate with her family and local community in a COVID-safe manner.
She is due to return home tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon.
