Dublin city councillors are meeting the Assistant Garda Commissioner this afternoon.
They want to discuss policing in the city centre.
It follows an attack on Talbot Street last week which left a tourist in intensive care.
One teenager, who has been arrested in connection with the assault, has been charged and remanded on bail.
Daithí de Róiste, Mayor of Dublin says Garda staffing isn't good enough:
"We're going to be raising with Gardaí exactly what's happening on the ground, what's the policing plan?"
The US Tourist who visited here reportedly had been saving up for a long time for his trip to Ireland.
In an interview with The Journal, his sister said he didn't make it to his mother's funeral when she was buried here 20 years ago.
