Brown Thomas customers can now have old designer bags and shoes refurbished to be like new.

The service is being rolled out at the retailer's new 62,000 sq ft Dundrum store which opened today.

The new store, which has an emphasis on sustainability, has filled some of the retail space left empty after House of Fraser's exit, and has created 300 new jobs.

The store is also accepting hand bag trade-in's in exchange for gift cards, while customers can earn loyalty points by dropping back empty cosmetics so they can be properly recycled.

The new €12 million store has a big focus on rental, resale and restoration services - you can also rent a designer piece for a few days for the price of a dress on the high street.

Dundrum Town Center says Penneys will fill the remainder of the space left empty by House of fraser, while it's currently shopping around for a new retailer for the unit currently home to Penneys.

Donald McDonald, Managing Director of Brown Thomas Arnotts, says: "Brown Thomas Dundrum offers an unparalleled retail experience. It sets new standards in innovation and sustainability for Irish retail.

"The store builds on the extraordinary customer experience that Brown Thomas is renowned for, combining an unrivalled offer with innovative services for our customers to enjoy.

"We’re very proud to have developed our new Dundrum store through local Irish collaboration from the ground up, in the design, sustainable build and operations of the store."
