Boy B’s legal team wants to introduce “fresh evidence” as part of an appeal against his conviction for the murder of Ana Kriègel.
He was just 13-years-old when he lured the Kildare schoolgirl to her death in May 2018.
In June 2019, the boy who became known as Boy B through the extensive media coverage of his trial was convicted of murdering Ana Kriègel.
He was found to have lured her from her home in Co Kildare to a derelict farmhouse in Lucan, where his friend was waiting for her.
They are serving sentences in a children’s detention centre for her murder. Neither can ever be identified because of their ages at the time of the crime.
Boy B’s appeal was due to be heard two years ago but he was given more time after dismissing his legal team.
At a brief hearing earlier today, the court heard his new lawyers are seeking to introduce fresh evidence and want to challenge the admissibility of certain matters that weren’t contested at trial.
Their application will be opposed.
The case will come before the court again in May.
