One of the two teenage boys who were found guilty of murdering Ana Kriegel has lodged an appeal against his conviction.
BOY B was sentenced to 15 years detention for his role in the Kildare schoolgirl’s murder with a review to take place in eight years.
BOY B was accused of luring Ana from her home in Leixlip to a derelict farmhouse in Lucan where she was killed on May 14th last year.
It was the prosecution’s case that he knew what was in store for her in that abandoned farmhouse when he knocked on her door that evening.
The case against him was entirely circumstantial and the prosecution relied heavily on what came out of his own mouth during eight Garda interviews.
He was convicted of murder following an eight-week trial that ended in June.
At last month’s sentence hearing, the court heard he doesn’t accept the verdict and his lawyers have now lodged an appeal against his conviction.
A notice of appeal, which sets out the grounds of appeal, has been lodged with the Court of Appeal and will now be sent to the relevant parties.
BOY A was handed a life sentence for murder and aggravated sexual assault with a review to take place after twelve years.
There’s still no word on whether he intends to appeal his conviction and/or sentence.
