Philippe Coutinho won't be staying with Bayern Munich next season after the German giants confirmed they won't be using an option to sign him.

The Brazilian has provided eight goals and six assists in 23 Bundesliga games during his loan spell at the Allianz Arena from Barcelona.

Bayern could have made the transfer permanent this summer for 120 million Euro.

"The option expired and we haven't activated it," chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed to Der Spiegel.

Now we first have to finish our roster planning internally and decide whether he will play a role with us or not.”

Coutinho is expected to leave the Nou Camp in the upcoming transfer window with Chelsea being linked with the Brazilian international.

Last week Coutinho's agent Kia Joorabchian indicated that his client's future remains up in the air:

"No decision has yet been made regarding his future. As I have said many times in uncertain times like these: We are not currently talking about any transfers or future plans and have not discussed them yet. ”

“Philippe is very happy in Munich. He likes the club and the high level of professionalism. The most important thing for him is to focus on a quick recovery to help his team on the pitch as quickly as possible. Then we will see how it goes. "
