A small number of staff and two inmates at Arbour Hill Prison have tested positive for Covid-19.
Arrangements are now being put in place for the mass testing of all staff and prisoners at the jail.
A more restricted regime has been introduced which may impact access to video visits and phone calls for those who are in precautionary isolation.
It follows an outbreak of the virus at the Midlands Prison in Portlaoise over the weekend where 11 inmates tested positive.
