A massive stone building has been discovered at the site of Apollo House on Poolbeg Street.
Wooden beams have also been uncovered according to the Herald, after the office block was pulled down earlier this year. A 10-storey office block with a cafe, bar and restaurant is planned for the site.
As part of the planning permission archaeologists have to be brought in to document any findings, with a report to be prepared for the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.
Work is not allowed to begin on the development until the experts have finished up on site.
The building made the headlines in 2016 after it was occupied by homeless people and activists for four weeks as part of the 'Home Sweet Home' campaign.
The group said over 200 people used the facility as a shelter during the occupation.
