Dublin taxi driver, Raymond Shorten has been handed a combined prison sentence of 30 years for abusing a girl over a decade ago, and raping two women in 2022.
The 50-year-old, of Melrose Crescent, Clondalkin, has shown no remorse for any of his offending and refuses to accept the verdicts of the two juries.
On Monday, Raymond Shorten was jailed for thirteen years for the rape and sexual assault of a 7 year old girl.
And today, he received an additional 17 years for raping two female passengers in the back of his taxi on separate dates in 2022.
His previous conviction for child abuse was considered a “significant aggravating factor”.
Mr. J. Paul McDermott said the fact he went on to rape twice again as a much older man had to be reflected in the sentence handed down today.
He said he knew exactly what he was doing and effectively preyed on the two girls, who were drunk and vulnerable when they got into his taxi.
Aside from the physical and mental harm inflicted, he said what he did to them was “humiliating and demeaning” and an absolute breach of trust on his behalf.
