A "national embarrassment" is how some Dubliners described the unruly behaviour at the city's portal earlier this summer.
While others worried about Irish-American relations in complaints to the city council, after images of the burning Twin Towers and porn were shown to the 24-hour live stream with New York.
Drug dealing and people mooning the big screen on North Earl Street also added to the issues, which eventually led to the technology being shut off for a number of days.
Changes, including restricted operating hours, have since been introduced with more than 200,000 people visiting the portal since it was unveiled in May, according to the Irish Times.
Jamie Cudden from Dublin City Council's Smart City innovation initiative told the paper that the portal has become one of the top 10 free attractions in the city.
