Irish people are being asked to dig deep into their pockets this weekend for two worthy causes.
As urgent requests for aid pour in from The Philippines following the devastating Typhoon Haiyan, our own church is asking people to contribute to the collections.
The Archbishop of Dublin, Diarmuid Martin, has asked that a special collection be taken up at all Masses to help the relief effort in the Phillippines and the disaster in Syria.
Archbishop Martin said that in light of recent developments the collection at masses will be for The Phillippines and Syria with 50% of all donations going to each.
Meanwhile a special Mass will be held in St. Mary's Pro-Cathedral in Dublin for the situation in the Phillippines at 6:30pm tomorrow.
