Water restrictions across Dublin will be lifted tonight.
More than a million people have been affected by night shortages over the past week.
Engineers had been working to fix a production problem at a water treatment plant in Kildare.
The Environment Minister admitted there had been concern about the quality of drinking water, because of an imbalance of chemicals being used to treat it.
Dublin City Council had denied the issue posed any risk to human health.
The recent night restrictions have now been lifted, but there will be some other limits in place.
Dublin City Council has thanked people for their co-operation, and said:
"We will be keeping reduced water pressure in place in the evenings over the coming weeks, to gain additional treated water storage. This is normal practice at this time of year. This will enable us to plan ahead for the high demand Christmas season, and to cater for the difficulties that the onset of extremely cold weather at this time of year can bring."
