Victims of road collisions will be remembered across the world today.
The Road Safety Authority and members of the gardai have joined forces to urge people to consider their behaviour, when behind the wheel.
Official records show that 23,405 people have died since records began in 1959.
Commemoration services will take place in many towns and villages across the country.
