The trial of a Polish man accused of murdering his partner in a city centre apartment is due to begin today.
37-year-old Mary Ryan died in hospital after being found unconscious at her Sherrard Street home in May 2012.
Originally from Drogheda, Mary Ryan lived in an apartment at Sherrard Street with her Polish boyfriend - 44 year old Waldemar Solowiow.
On the morning of May 19th last year, Gardai went to the inner city flat after receiving reports that she'd been seriously injured.
When they arrived, they found her unconscious at the foot of some stairs and she was rushed to the Mater Hospital where she later died.
Mr. Solowiow was arrested two days later and charged with her murder before Dublin District Court the following day.
During that court appearance, he confirmed that he was unemployed and on social welfare and he was granted legal aid.
His murder trial is listed to go ahead before the Central Criminal Court later today.
