Shelbourne looked doomed to life in the second tier of the League of Ireland next season. Johnny McDonnell's side lost 1-0 away to Limerick in the Premier Division last night. It was a frustrating night for Shels, who created a host of chances, but were unable to capatilise on them. It was the home side who did in the 27th minute when Rory Gaffney scored following a Carel Tiofack corner, while Shels then went on to waste several opportunities. Gaffney's goal means Shels will be relegated if Bray Wanderers earn a point from either of their remaining matches against Bohemians and Dundalk.
